Job DescriptionAddison Northwest School District is seeking an Accounting Supervisor to effectively coordinate and implement school district budgets, cash flow management, and act as the District financial software and banking liaison. To apply an advanced level of accounting skills and oversee all functions of the fiscal services staff to help ensure the Business Office is functioning properly and efficiently in accordance with federal and state law and District requirements.
The Supervisor will be responsible for documenting the financial activities of the District as directed by the Director of Finance and Operations.

- ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Processes and prepares all Federal and State quarterly filings.
- Processes and prepares annual reporting of wages to Federal and State agencies.
- Reconciles retirement system reports to payroll and submits required quarterly reports.
- Prepares financial and statistical reports.
- Compiles and summarizes salary and benefit survey data annually to the Agency of Education.
- Develops and maintains the District’s annual budget.
- Sets up employee positions in the District’s accounting software for payroll and financial reporting.
- Performs final review and approval of all purchase requests for the District.
- Oversees and manages cash flow for the District’s operating account.
- Researches and analyzes regulatory updates and other information impacting the financial system; implements required changes to the system.
- Serves as liaison with financial institutions, auditors, schools, and other District departments and offices regarding financial-related issues.
- Monitors proper use of student activity funds for the District.
- Aids independent auditors in their performance of annual audit; answers questions, locates materials, explains procedures and policies as requested.
- Maintains and manage a chart of accounts and double entry modified accrual basis of accounting in accordance with the requirements of the Vermont Agency of Education Handbook and generally acceptable accounting principles.
- Coordinates, processes, and controls transfers of budgeted funds as requested and approved by authorized personnel, and in accordance with school board policy.
- Performs Reconciliations of all Cash Accounts and Liability Accounts monthly
- Provides direct supervision for Accounts Payable, Payroll, Accounts Receivable, and Grants Accounting staff.
- Coordinates with the Director of Finance and Operations for the development of written procedures, guidelines, forms and other documents to facilitate business operations within the District.
- At least 3 year(s) of relevant experience preferred.
