Design, organize, and articulate a multi-year vision for the Music Industry and Technology curriculum. Teach courses such as Intro to Music Technology, Advanced Sound Production and Recording, Music Industry Business and Law, and lead a contemporary music ensemble. Track graduate outcomes and align course competencies with transferable skills for professional employment. Manage the light, sound, and recording requirements of the Music Department’s performance spaces, including training and supervising student workers.
Provide secondary responsibilities such as applied studio lessons, committee work, supervising independent studies, and other projects as appropriate. Teach online courses as part of the normal workload. Excellence in teaching and recruiting is expected in the classroom, on campus, and in the greater community.
- Bachelor’s degree in a music technology related field and relevant music industry experience required.
- Master’s or Doctorate preferred; a terminal degree is required for a tenure-track position.
- Demonstrated proficiency in at least one digital audio workstation (e.g., Logic Pro or Ableton Live).
- Experience in digital music production, including recording and mixing.
- Success in teaching and recruiting; instrumental performance and teaching experience preferred.
- Preferred instruments: bassoon, guitar, oboe, piano, trumpet, or other woodwinds.
