Position Overview
Full‑time, twelve‑month tenure‑track faculty position in the Occupational Therapy Department, School of Health Sciences, at the University of South Dakota in Vermillion, SD.
ResponsibilitiesTeaching in the candidate’s areas of expertise consistent with the department’s curriculum philosophy and design; serving in assigned or appointed roles; advising students on professional and academic progress; and mentoring students in faculty‑led research and the OTD capstone project. The successful candidate will also engage in substantial research leading toward national significance in alignment with scholarly productivity guidelines and fulfill the tripartite academic role of educator‑scholar‑citizen.
Minimum Qualifications- Earned doctoral degree awarded by an institution accredited by a USDE‑recognized regional accrediting body.
- Currently licensed or eligible for OT licensure in South Dakota.
- Documented expertise in adult psychosocial rehabilitation, mental health practice, or adult physical rehabilitation.
- Teaching and/or research experience.
USD’s Doctor of Occupational Therapy program is renowned for excellence and strong outcomes. The department offers an entry‑level Doctor of Occupational Therapy degree and permits students to continue in the interdisciplinary Ph.D. in Health Sciences program. A vibrant, collegial faculty offers diverse teaching and research expertise, and all actively engage in professional service at the national and state levels. The program is housed in the Sanford Coyote Sports Center, with dedicated classrooms, laboratory spaces, fully functioning Activities of Daily Living Suite, and shared spaces with the Physical Therapy Department, including a nearly 1,500‑square‑foot teaching and research laboratory and small‑group collaborative learning spaces.
Each space features state‑of‑the‑art technology.
