Academic Advisor
The position provides academic advising to undergraduate Kinesiology & Sport Management (KSM) students in the USD School of Education and is a supervisory instructor for KSM internship/externship courses. Additional duties may include meeting with prospective KSM students and collaborating with KSM faculty and constituents across campus to ensure quality experiences for students. A successful candidate will possess strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
Experience advising university students, teaching experience, or career counseling is a plus.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree is required. Some related experience and a master's degree is preferred. Knowledge of The University of South Dakota campus and the School of Education Division of Kinesiology & Sport Management is desirable. Ideal candidates must have excellent communications skills (both oral and written). All candidates MUST apply online or.edu. Must be authorized to work in the United States. Counseling and Psychology, Educational Leadership, Kinesiology and Sport Management, and Teacher Residency and Education. The SOE programs lead to careers as educators, counselors, psychologists, administrators, researchers, educational and health-related specialists, and sport-related specialists. The School of Education Center for Student and Professional Services offers candidates an energetic and creative environment to assist students throughout their degree program. In addition to Academic Advising, the Center's staff recruit prospective students in conjunction with Admissions, assist students with information and resources for Praxis testing, and provide placement and certification services.
The center is located in Delzell School of Education and serves as a resource for faculty and staff and K-12 partner districts.
