General Description
Leads and directs Quality Management System (QMS), ensuring adherence to quality processes. Utilize Quality Management System tools (7 QC tools, statistical analysis, teamwork, etc.) to conduct root cause investigations and implement corrective actions. Analyze data and gather operator input to identify best practices, then collaborate with Production Supervisors to develop and implement training plans across shifts. Address quality issues with purchased parts by working with the purchasing department and suppliers.
Apply the First Article Inspection process to new parts to ensure they meet company quality standards and specifications. Collaborate with the QA Team, Sale, Engineering, and Service to enhance the
Quality system and implement corrective actions. Plan, develop, coordinate, and direct the quality control program to ensure consistent production that meets engineering designs and specifications. Develop and analyze statistical data and production specifications to ensure the quality and reliability of finished products.
job duties and responsibilities- Manage & develop QMS Team to ensure we follow, develop, and communicate action plans, methods for inspection, testing, sampling, and training. Routinely audit, train, coach, update, maintain, and review existing work instructions, procedures, and other quality documents. Advise Management Team of needed or potential improvements.
- Evaluate production process capabilities and variation tendencies and implement process controls.
- Certify manufactured products adhere to required specifications through testing, data analysis, and personal inspection.
- Conduct supplier audits, First Article Inspections, and random sampling to ensure purchased products meet required specifications. Work with Purchasing and Suppliers on incoming quality standards and expectations.
- Utilize statistical analysis, root cause evaluation, and daily inspection results to provide feedback to Manufacturing and Engineering Departments for quality improvements and controls. Develop quality assurance plans by identifying critical control points and preventive measures.
- Develop and maintain a plant calibration program to ensure the accuracy, repeatability, and reproducibility of gauges, fixtures, welding machines, and measurement devices.
- Maintain and utilize Quality Assurance records, including data entry, tracking, and control of documents. Enhance “reject/defect” database for data analysis (statistical and graphical) for problem-solving and prevention.
- Validate quality processes by working with Product Engineering to establish component and assembly specifications and quality attributes while updating quality assurance procedures.
- Maintain and improve component and assembly quality by completing audits, investigating internal and external customer complaints, and collaborating with other management members to develop product and engineering design improvements and enhance manufacturing and inspection methods. Prepare quality documentation and reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
- Update job knowledge through professional development and by studying trends and developments in quality management.
- Perform other duties and tasks as assigned by management.
- 2–4-year degree in applicable Engineering or Quality discipline with 5 plus years of Quality System (QA & QC) background and experience.
- Management and Leadership experience
- Ability to work well with others and demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Excellent analytical, prioritization, delegation, and multi-tasking skills.
- Technical savvy with strong computer skills and statistical analysis/process control background.
- Project management expertise
- Ability to read blueprints, along with familiarity of GD&T and the knowledge of how and when to effectively use common measurement and test devices for NDT and DT purposes.
