The Office of Human Subjects Protection is seeking an independent, driven person to fill the role of IRB Analyst/Audit Coordinator.

Qualifications: A bachelor’s degree (advanced degree preferred). Minimum 2–3 years of experience in compliance work or higher education, with the ability to understand, interpret, and apply federal regulations. Strong written and oral communication skills, organizational ability, and experience working with faculty across diverse disciplines. Proven initiative and the ability to work independently and as a team, manage multiple projects, and meet deadlines.

Familiarity with human subjects research and a fast‑paced academic environment is preferred.

Responsibilities: 1. Oversee the audit function of USD’s Human Research Protection Program, performing compliance audits of human‑subject experiments. This includes preparing for audits, interviewing researchers, reviewing documentation, and writing and presenting reports to the Director and Institutional Review Board. Assist with non‑compliance determinations, action plans, and monitoring. Audit research projects not involving human subjects to ensure federal and institutional compliance and contribute to internal quality assessment.

2. Review human subject protocols, applying federal regulations, VA policy, and USD policy to evaluate proposed research. Assist researchers with revisions and approve projects. This involves detailed reading, interpretation, and application of federal law and institutional policy while remaining supportive to investigators. As authorized delegate, act on behalf of the Director when unavailable.
