Location: Richmond

Payroll Specialist is a key role within operational accounting, responsible for full-cycle payroll processing and related compliance reporting. This position handles employee timecards, payroll data entry, withholding information, and certified payroll reporting. The ideal candidate will have strong data entry and analytical skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to providing excellent customer service.

Essential Functions
  • Receive and process employee timecards and supervisor/foreman reports on a daily basis
  • Review and analyze payroll to ensure compliance with union contracts, prevailing wage requirements, and company policies
  • Prepare and complete prevailing wage and certified payroll reports for state and federal projects
  • Analyze payroll reports to ensure accurate with holdings, deductions, and accruals
  • Prepare and transmit employee payroll payments
  • Review subcontractor certified payroll reports for compliance with contract requirements and maintain proper documentation
  • Research and resolve payroll, timecard, and pay discrepancies in a timely manner
  • Prepare and file annual unemployment forms and other payroll-related reports as required
Position Requirements
  • High school diploma required;
    Associate’s degree or higher in Accounting preferred
  • 1–2 years of accounting experience, including payroll, accounts payable, or accounts receivable
  • Strong knowledge of payroll processes, including experience with union payroll and prevailing wage contracts
  • Working knowledge of federal and state labor laws
  • Ability to accurately and efficiently enter and manage a high volume of data
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for process improvement
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks, deadlines, and priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook
  • Ability to follow detailed procedures and recommend process improvements when needed
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Commitment to continuous improvement and strong customer service
