Position Overview
We are seeking an Accounts Receivable Collections Manager to join our team at Phoenix Feeds & Nutrition, a leading manufacturer in the livestock feed industry. This role is highly involved in day-to-day collections activities, working directly with customers to ensure timely payments while maintaining strong relationships. The ideal candidate is comfortable rolling up their sleeves—managing their own portfolio of accounts while improving processes and supporting overall cash flow.
Key Responsibilities- Actively manage and collect on a portfolio of customer accounts
, including high-value and past-due balances - Perform daily outreach (calls/emails) to customers regarding outstanding invoices
- Review and manage AR aging reports
, prioritizing collection efforts - Investigate and resolve billing discrepancies, short pays, and disputes
- Apply payments, update account notes, and maintain accurate customer records in ERP system
- Collaborate closely with sales, customer service, and shipping teams to resolve issues impacting payment
- Evaluate customer accounts and assist with credit decisions and payment term recommendations
- Support month-end close by reconciling AR accounts and reporting on collection status
- Assist with process improvements while remaining deeply involved in execution
- Provide backup support for invoicing and cash application as needed
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- 3-7 years of collections/accounts receivable experience
, preferably in manufacturing - Strong working knowledge of AR processes, credit, and collections best practices
- Experience with ERP systems and solid Excel skills
- Excellent communication skills with ability to handle sensitive customer conversations
- Detail‑oriented with strong organizational and follow‑through abilities
- Self‑starter who can manage workload independently
- Experience in agriculture, livestock feed manufacturing
- Familiarity with lien rights, credit insurance, or ag-related payment cycles
- Prior experience working directly with sales teams and rural customer bases
