Shelburne Community School (SCS) is seeking a knowledgeable and collaborative part‑time Music Supervisor to join our school community for the 2026–2027 school year. In this role, you will partner with the current Artistic Team on our upcoming middle school musical production, fostering an encouraging and supportive musical environment to help students find their voices and build confidence through song.
Position TypeStipend (Category B, co‑curricular)
Compensation$3,059 to $5,792 stipend, based on qualifications and experience per the Collective Bargaining Agreement.
Responsibilities- Learn the score for the selected musical and take ownership of teaching all musical aspects of the production to middle school student‑athletes and performers.
- Lead music rehearsals for the chorus, featured soloists, and ensemble performers from auditions through the final curtain.
- Select, prepare, and teach audio file recordings and musical tracking utilized for the production.
- Collaborate directly with the overall Director and Choreographer to ensure musical alignment with staging and choreography.
- Assist the overall Director with communication to parents regarding production needs and family volunteer opportunities.
- Maintain a safe, inclusive, and positive team climate that promotes student growth and well‑being.
- Demonstrated background in music education, vocal coaching, or musical theater direction; experience with middle‑school voices is highly valued.
- Proficiency in teaching vocal parts, rehearsing ensembles, and directing/managing digital audio backing tracks and recordings.
- Strong communication, instructional, and interpersonal skills to effectively interface with students, the artistic team, and families.
- High‑level dependability, patience, and a passion for helping young people express themselves creatively.
- A commitment to inclusivity, creating a theatrical environment that welcomes all students and families.
