Summary

Provide cost and lead‑time estimates for sheet metal parts and assemblies, tooling, materials, outside processing and services to support New Product Opportunities and Product Realization.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Provide cost and lead‑time estimates to sales department staff.
  • Maintain a costing format that follows MACK policy and procedures.
  • Review 3D CAD to determine best manufacturing methodology.
  • Review 2D drawings to determine best manufacturing methodology.
  • Review Bill of Materials to determine best manufacturing methodology.
  • Coordinate requests for quotations for parts, tooling, materials, goods, and services to support new product introductions and production.
  • Maintain job‑related documentation including written and verbal communications.
  • Interface with Business Units, Manufacturing, Quality, and Finance in accordance with MACK policy and procedures.
  • Review program information to understand product intent, functionality, and overall requirements, ensuring customer specifications are fully covered.
  • Review customer specifications and drawings, ensuring sufficient information to communicate required specifications internally.
  • Identify, source, and qualify new equipment and processes.
  • Secure supplier non‑disclosure agreements.
  • Negotiate sheet metal costs, lead times, terms, conditions, and tolerance.
  • Communicate customer requirements and equipment capability.
  • Work with department manager to understand capacity, yield, and cost structure.
  • Attend program team meetings to understand quote requirements, address issues, and provide DFM and design‑for‑cost initiatives.
  • Perform assigned activities promptly.
  • Maintain and update short‑ and long‑term strategies.
  • Pursue cost reductions to enhance profitability.
  • Attend team meetings as needed to resolve issues and maintain customer satisfaction.
  • Provide support to other departments to achieve program goals.
  • Travel domestically frequently and occasionally internationally to suppliers.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
  • Must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
  • Bachelor’s Degree (B.S.) in Business or Engineering from an accredited college or university, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Working knowledge of sheet metal fabrication desired.
