World Language Teacher

Orchard Valley Waldorf School in East Montpelier, Vermont seeks a creative and enthusiastic World Language teacher for Grades 1-8. Candidates should have native/near native fluency, as well as experience in the classroom setting. Ideal candidates will be familiar with or open to learning child development as seen through the Waldorf education pedagogy. Previous World Language teachers have taught French, Spanish, and/or Mandarin.

We are open to any of these languages, or others. This position begins on July 1, 2026, for the 2026/27 school year.

Overview of Orchard Valley Waldorf School (OVWS): a vibrant, rural school on two campuses in the heart of Vermont, close to Montpelier. The school values a warm, collaborative and curious faculty and serves children from infancy through Grade 8 across various programs.

• Teach world language to students in Grades 1-8, with a focus on engaging, developmentally appropriate Waldorf pedagogy.
• Collaborate with colleagues and participate in a dynamic school community.
• Engage with students in a playful, inquiry-based learning environment.
• Maintain strong classroom management and foster a positive learning atmosphere.
• Use Google Suite and be willing to learn educational software relevant to the job.

• Bachelor’s Degree or comparable life experience
• Native or near-native speaker of the language to be taught
• World language teaching experience
• Waldorf training or experience is a plus
• Strong verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues
• Experience with or willingness to learn educational software

The position involves working in and out of doors. Must be able to sit, stand, squat, reach, bend, lift up to 40 pounds, and walk over uneven terrain. Must be able to work outside for periods of time in changing weather conditions (rain, snow, wind, cold).

This is a part-time, hourly position. Benefits include paid federal holidays, wellness stipend and PTO. The hourly wage range for this position is: $20.75 - $23.75.
