Rainbow Playschool is a non‑profit organization located in Woodstock, Vermont, nestled in the foothills of Mt. Tom. Since its founding in 1981, the school has provided daycare and preschool services for children aged 6 weeks to 5 years, with a focus on play‑based and outdoor education. Housed in a four‑star state‑accredited, environmentally friendly 8,000 sq. ft. facility, the school features thoughtfully designed classrooms and a large outdoor learning area next to Marsh‑Billings National Park.

The school emphasizes the importance of free play for the healthy development of children, supporting creativity, curiosity, compassion, and resilience.

Role Description

We are seeking a full‑time on‑site Child Care Assistant Teacher located in Woodstock, VT. The Assistant Teacher will support lead teachers in implementing engaging play‑based activities, supervising children, maintaining a safe and nurturing environment, and fostering social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development. Responsibilities also include assisting with classroom organization, helping during meals, and closely monitoring children’s safety during indoor and outdoor activities.

Collaboration with colleagues and communication with families will be a key part of the role.

Qualifications
  • Proficiency in Assistant Teaching and supporting classroom activities
  • Strong Communication skills to work with children, colleagues, and parents effectively
  • Basic skills in Education and a foundational understanding of child development
  • Passion for Working With Children and supporting their learning and growth through play
  • Flexibility, patience, and creativity in working with children in varying age groups
  • Prior experience in childcare or early childhood education is preferred
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; coursework in Early Childhood Education or related fields is a plus
  • CPR and First Aid certification preferred or willingness to obtain certification
