SummaryProvides support services to visually impaired students enrolled in regular classrooms.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- provides direct instruction on a part-time basis in academic areas to visually impaired students enrolled in regular classes and self-contained classes of other exceptionalities
- provides supplementary teaching materials to the classroom teacher
- serves as liaison between the school and the home for the visually impaired students
- Secures large print and/or braille textbooks and other instructional materials
- consults with classroom teachers and others serving visually impaired students
- arranges for and schedules periodic evaluations of visually impaired students
Other duties as assigned that are related to the functions of the position.
Essential Functions/Qualifications/RequirementsEducation and Experience
Must Possess a valid Louisiana Teacher's certificate in the area of Visually Impaired.

Technological AbilitiesTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be proficient in general use of a computer, the use of Email as a form of communication, and other job-specific equipment, software, and/or applications.
