Job Description

Para educator:
Middle School 1:1 Classroom Assistant (26-27 School Year) – Approx 25 hours/week.

Responsibilities
  • Provide in-class support across humanities, literature, science, and world language courses.
  • Offer individualized (1:1) academic assistance and clarification of curriculum content.
  • Check for student understanding and help them break down and complete assignments.
  • Adapt support based on students’ evolving academic and developmental needs.
  • Support implementation of accommodations and modifications outlined in student’s IEP.
  • Coach student in organization, planning, time management, task initiation, self-advocacy, and study strategies.
  • Help student develop routines and systems to promote independence and academic success.
  • Participate in IEP meetings and team discussions as needed.
  • Document and communicate observations regarding student progress and support needs.
  • Work closely with the Director of Academic Services and Academic & Student Support Team to implement individualized strategies and interventions.
  • Maintain regular communication with classroom teachers, parents/guardians, and the Academic & Student Support Team; participate in scheduled in-person meetings and maintain timely, professional email correspondence.
Qualifications
  • Values inclusive education and student-centered support.
  • Flexible, proactive, and skilled at building positive rapport with high school students.
  • Understands or is eager to learn about executive functioning skills and special education practices.
  • At least 2 years of relevant experience preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Citizenship, residency, or work visa required.
