Unlock the opportunity to make a meaningful impact in the lives of students by supporting special education services in a dynamic school environment near Shaftsbury, VT. This contract position offers three distinct full-time roles tailored to professionals passionate about individualized learning and therapeutic support for children with diverse needs. Each classroom is self-contained and features manageable, focused caseloads.
Available Assignments:
- Elementary Level:
Teach in a K-5 Autism classroom with a caseload of up to 6 students. You'll develop and implement creative interventions to enhance social, behavioral, and academic growth among young learners. - Middle School Level:
Work in a therapeutic classroom for grades 6-8 with up to 10 students, concentrating on trauma-informed care and supporting students in a self-contained environment. - High School Level:
Facilitate growth and empowerment for up to 12 students in a therapeutic setting serving grades 9-12, emphasizing emotional and behavioral support for adolescents who have experienced trauma.
Qualifications:
- Valid certification or license to teach Special Education.
- Background working with children or adolescents affected by trauma (required for middle and high school roles).
- Experience with self-contained or autism-focused classrooms is strongly preferred.
- Strong communication, adaptability, and team collaboration skills.
- Drive to facilitate both academic and emotional development in students.
- Design and deliver individualized instruction, modifying according to IEP requirements.
- Create a supportive, structured, and safe environment within the classroom.
- Foster positive relationships with students, parents, and multidisciplinary teams.
- Implement behavior management strategies and document progress.
- Contribute to ongoing team meetings and professional development to ensure best practices.
