The Champlain Valley School District (CVSD) is seeking dedicated and adaptable individuals to join our educational team as Substitute Teachers and Substitute Paraeducators. These roles are essential for maintaining a positive learning environment and ensuring student success in the absence of regular staff. This is a flexible, as-needed position, offering you the opportunity to choose assignments that fit your personal schedule while supporting our schools.

Primary Responsibilities

• Deliver instruction by following lesson plans and schedules prepared by the absent teacher.
• Maintain classroom routines and procedures to ensure a stable learning environment for students.
• Oversee student behavior in the classroom and during non-instructional periods such as lunch or recess.
• Provide academic support to students individually or in small group settings.
• Collaborate with school leadership by reporting to the principal upon arrival and providing a written summary of the day's activities.
• Support school operations by assisting in the library, media lab, or performing basic clerical duties when not assigned to a specific classroom.

• Strong communication skills and the ability to interact respectfully with students, faculty, and parents.
• Adaptability to manage diverse classroom dynamics and solve practical problems effectively.
• Ability to follow instructions in written, oral, or diagram form, including the interpretation of lesson plans and safety rules.
• Technical proficiency with word processing programs and databases is desirable.
• Requirement:
  Must complete the CVSD Substitute Orientation Training and pass a criminal background check.
