Job DescriptionThe Kingdom East School District, Student Services, is seeking an Intensive Instructional Assistant (IIA) assigned to work at the Miller’s Run KEAP program. Required hours are 3:00-5:00pm Mondays through Thursdays during the school year, with additional hours available to the applicant if desired. The candidate must be energetic and love working with children.
The IIA position's purpose is to develop and interpret individual needs of students by helping to create and implement behavior and/or instructional support programs with consultation with the KEAP staff and the special educator. The hired candidate will be trained in Handle With Care and must be able to physically join all activities that their assigned student will join. Candidates must successfully complete the Para Pro assessment or have an associate's or higher degree.
The IIAs provide observable student data that meet the program goals of students with early childhood, developmental delay and/or other special needs. Position will target goal‑directive services to assist students in accessing instruction in a developmentally appropriate, functional and independent manner. Background check, including fingerprinting required upon employment.
Kingdom East School District is located in the heart of a vibrant community in the Northeast Kingdom of Vermont. We operate seven pre‑K‑8th grade schools ranging from 60 to 500 students. Our high school students have “choice” and may opt to attend one of the traditional independent schools – Lyndon Institute or St. Johnsbury Academy – or another high school of their choosing.
