Job DescriptionThe First Branch Unified District, serving the communities of Chelsea and Tunbridge, Vermont, is seeking an enthusiastic, student-centered Science Teacher to join our middle school team for the school year. This full-time position is based at our Chelsea Campus and serves students in grades 6-8. We are looking for an educator who is passionate about science, inquiry-based learning, and helping adolescents develop critical thinking and problem‑solving skills.
The ideal candidate creates engaging learning experiences that encourage curiosity, hands‑on exploration, and meaningful connections between science and the world around us. Our science program is aligned with the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) and emphasizes scientific inquiry, engineering design, and real‑world application of scientific concepts.
- Vermont teaching license in or eligibility for Vermont licensure.
- Endorsement in Science or a relevant content area preferred.
- Strong classroom management and relationship-building skills.
- Knowledge of middle school development and best instructional practices.
- Understanding of and experience implementing Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) through inquiry-based, student-centered instruction.
- Commitment to creating an inclusive and supportive learning environment.
- Experience integrating technology, laboratory investigations, and real-world applications into instruction is preferred.
