Job Description:

Fulfills the mission of Norwich University by contacting and cultivating prospective students and applicants; provides supervision to other members of the admissions team and/or to critical processes necessary within the cultivation and recruitment of an incoming class.

Essential Functions
  • Supervises critical processes within application recruitment, management and enrollment of the inbound class.
  • Promotes communication plans with counselors to maximize the efficacy of the daily outreach plan.
  • Sets and manages productivity standards and goals for the admissions team.
  • Supervises, trains, and evaluates two to three admission staff members, and student workers.
  • Troubleshoots any issues that may arise on a daily basis, university travel, and during special visitation events.
  • Maintains the highest standards of customer service, confirming that all staff members are providing accurate, timely and useful information to prospective students, families, and members of the university community.
  • Supervises a caseload of 350‑500 prospective students.
  • Maintains communication with all students, on a bi‑weekly or monthly basis by utilizing various communication methods including, but not limited to: phone calls, emails, and text messages.
  • Manages applications to include gathering information for incomplete files; preparing completed applications; making decisions on student applicants and cultivating applicants from a specific geographic location.
  • Communicates with students and families about the various aspects of the college search/decision process including, but not limited to: financial aid, billing, academics, lifestyle, athletics, and student interest clubs.
  • Develops strong relationships with prospective students and their families throughout the admission cycle including personal communication in a written and electronic format, phone calls and personal interaction as necessary.
  • Counsels and advises students about financial aid eligibility, financial aid application procedures, aid programs, costs, and indebtedness.
  • Ensures that all visiting students and families have a pleasant and informative visit to campus by supporting the success of various student‑visit programs through conducting information sessions, campus tours, one‑on‑one interviews, virtual events, and collaborating with a wide variety of departments and offices across campus.
  • Represents the University at on and off‑campus events including open houses, regional events, and academic showcases and strategic high school visits.
  • Plans and executes travel in select geographic areas; to include college fairs, classroom presentations and individual meetings with applicants, often including some nights and weekends.
  • Develops and manages a marketing plan based on geographic territories and specific academic programs.
Other Functions
  • Assesses the performance of direct reports and provides frequent feedback to optimize their performance.
  • Maintains confidentiality of sensitive or private information.
  • Communicates with employees, students, and others in a respectful and clear manner.
  • Serves on University committees, councils, work groups or other designated bodies as assigned.
  • Achieves, maintains proficiency in, and utilizes computers, telephones, and other job‑related equipment, including related systems and software.
  • Speaks, reads and writes in English.
  • Communicates by telephone, email, letter, in person, or other means or device.
  • Perform other tasks as assigned by supervisor.
