Job DescriptionNewbury Elementary School is seeking a caring, energetic, and dedicated Pre‑Kindergarten Teacher to join our school community. The successful candidate will create a safe, engaging, and nurturing classroom environment that supports the academic, social, emotional, and developmental growth of young learners.
Outdoor education and community based learning experiences are key components of our educational programming. Each week students take advantage of learning in our eleven acre forest school classroom. Area farms invite our students to learn and explore throughout the school year. We are proud to incorporate Project Wild, Trout in the Classroom and onsite composting & gardening into our instructional experiences for students.
Responsibilities- Plan and deliver developmentally appropriate lessons aligned with Vermont early learning standards
- Foster a positive, inclusive, and supportive classroom environment
- Support children’s social, emotional, language, and cognitive development through play-based and hands‑on learning
- Assess student progress and maintain accurate records
- Build strong partnerships with families through regular communication
- Collaborate with school staff, support services, and administrators to meet student needs
- Maintain a safe and organized learning environment
- Incorporate outdoor education into the Pre‑Kindergarten experience
New teachers can expect a mentor with weekly meetings for the first year and into the second year if needed. In addition to mentoring, outside consultants work with teachers on self‑designed support. Newbury is also able to offer in‑house coaching in both math, literacy, and behavior management. New teachers to NES are well supported for success.
Qualifications- Must hold or be able to obtain a Vermont Educator’s License with Elementary teaching endorsement.
- Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Citizenship, residency or work visa required.
Position Type: Full‑time
Salary: $46,738 to $90,067 per year (determined by district’s collective bargaining agreement; factors include degree level and years of service).
