Job Description
Position Overview:
As an After school Staff Member, you will play a crucial role in creating a safe, educational, and engaging environment for students after school hours. You will be responsible for supervising, assisting, and facilitating various activities to promote learning, social development, and personal growth among participants.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervision and Safety:
- Ensure the safety and well‑being of all program participants at all times.
- Maintain a secure and organized program space.
- Implement and enforce program rules and behavior expectations.
- Activity Planning and Facilitation:
- Plan and organize age‑appropriate activities, including educational games, arts and crafts, sports, and homework assistance.
- Facilitate group activities and ensure active participation.
- Adapt activities to accommodate the needs and interests of diverse students.
- Homework Assistance:
- Provide support and guidance to students with their homework and assignments.
- Offer assistance in understanding and completing tasks, reinforcing classroom learning.
- Foster a positive attitude towards learning and self‑improvement.
- Communication:
- Maintain effective communication with elementary school students, staff, activity leaders and site coordinators.
- Share information about program activities, student progress, and any concerns or issues.
- Behavior Management:
- Address and manage behavioral issues using appropriate strategies, promoting a positive and respectful atmosphere.
- Report incidents and communicate with the site coordinator.
- Administrative Tasks:
- Assist in maintaining attendance records, program schedules, and other required documentation.
- Collaborate with site coordinators to ensure program goals and objectives are met.
- Resource Management:
- Organize and manage program materials, supplies, and equipment.
- Report any maintenance or equipment needs to program coordinators.
- Professional Development:
- Participate in training sessions and workshops to enhance skills related to child development, behavior management, and safety.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent (a degree in education, child development, or a related field is a plus).
- Previous experience working with children or in an educational setting.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Patience, empathy, and the ability to build positive relationships with students.
- Basic knowledge of child development and age‑appropriate activities.
- CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
- Background check and fingerprinting may be required depending on the organization and location.
$20/hr
Approximately 32 weeks a year
