Shelburne Community School (SCS) is seeking up to two full-time (2.00 FTE) intensive para educators to join our special education team starting the school year. We are looking for skilled, caring individuals to provide intensive support in the areas of multi-layered curriculum, communication, and behavior across school settings in our Pre-K to 8th grade school.
This position is vital to our mission of ensuring all students achieve grade-level expectations through specialized support and inclusive practices. The successful candidates will be strong advocates for student growth and positive contributors to our collaborative school community.
Primary Responsibilities
- Providing direct, intensive support for students in the areas of multi-layered curriculum or curriculum overlapping.
- Facilitating communication, behavioral support, and activities of daily living across various school settings for students in our Pre-K to 8th grade school.
- Promoting child growth by fostering independence and self-advocacy.
- Collaborating closely with the special education team and classroom teachers to align support with student needs.
- Supporting students during transitions, which may include the bus ride to and/or from school.
- Thriving within a teaming environment, working independently when needed while maintaining high levels of collaboration.
- Communicating effectively with colleagues regarding student progress and instructional goals.
- A deep commitment to equitable instructional practices and inclusive education.
- Demonstrated strength in problem-solving and working as a collaborative team member.
- Exceptional organizational skills and a flexible, creative approach to meeting student needs.
- The physical ability to meet the requirements of the position, including lifting.
- A willingness to learn and implement specialized support strategies for diverse learning profiles.
- A positive and productive spirit that contributes to a welcoming school environment.
