We are open to filling this vacancy as either a long‑term Principal or a one‑year Interim Principal for the 2026‑2027 school year, depending on qualifications and mutual fit. Position Summary:
As a vital member of the OESU leadership team, the School Principal provides strategic instructional leadership, operational management, and community oversight for Thetford Elementary School. The primary focus is to champion student achievement and growth while cultivating a safe, healthy, and positive school climate for all students and staff.
The ideal candidate will be a collaborative communicator, sustaining a nurturing school culture, supporting staff development, and leading the implementation of proactive, positive behavioral frameworks (such as PBIS) to ensure every child thrives.

Collaboration:
Cultivating strong partnerships with families, the Thetford community, and the broader OESU leadership team. - Supervision & Professional Growth:
Evaluating, mentoring, and supporting a highly dedicated faculty and staff. - Operations & Budgeting:
Overseeing sound fiscal management and daily building operations.
- At least three (3) years of successful licensed teaching experience.
- Three (3) years of building‑level administrative experience is desirable.
- Demonstrated experience providing leadership in an academic environment (preferred).
- Successful performance in the current position at the time of application.
- Equivalent experience shall be considered.
- Earned Master’s degree from an accredited college or university.
- Must possess or be able to obtain a Vermont Educator’s license with the School Principal endorsement.
- Valid Driver’s License.
- Citizenship, residency or work visa required.
Compensation ranges from $95,000 to $120,000 per year, based on experience, with a competitive benefit package.
