Associate Dean of Students - Anticipated Vacancy

Job Summary

Reporting to the Dean of Students and collaborating with department heads, the Associate Dean of Students shares responsibility for cultivating a positive school culture consistent with the mission of Lyndon Institute. The role supports student attendance and behavior, campus climate, the student life office, and the development of core values.

Duties, Responsibilities and Specific Requirements
  • Consistently act as a positive presence in student lives.
  • Promote a positive student culture of engagement through policy and personal interactions.
  • Develop and implement proactive strategies to support overall student well‑being aligned with the mission and values.
  • Provide logistical support for all‑school events.
  • Collaborate with the Dean of Students in revising and publishing the Student Handbook.
  • Participate in all Campus Life Department meetings and attend EST meetings.
  • Work with the Dean of Academics and Dean of Students to support teachers with classroom support, professional development, and mentorship programs.
  • Facilitate core value development in the Advisory Program and support community culture projects.
  • Support student organizations (Student Government, Honors Societies, Clubs, etc.).
  • Help cultivate and organize a Culture Committee that gathers stakeholders and implements temperature surveys.
  • Organize Core Value talks at assemblies; speak once or twice a month with faculty and staff.
  • Assist with student behavioral and attendance issues during the school day, communicating with parents, teachers, coaches, and other stakeholders.
  • Maintain accurate records of student discipline and attendance.
  • Facilitate HHB Investigations and send findings and disciplinary recommendations to the Dean of Students.
  • Serve as a visible presence on campus—hallways, parking lots, dorms—during classes and school‑sponsored events.
  • Serve as Administrator on Duty for some evening and weekend events.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Candidate Requirements
  • Minimum of a bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience demonstrating success with students and colleagues, including teaching, advising or counseling high‑school students.
  • Proven success in collaborating with students, faculty, staff, parents, and community leaders.
  • Patience, sense of humor, and ability to see the best in others.
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills.
  • Understanding of the importance of discretion and confidentiality.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills with ability to prioritize multiple tasks.
  • Strong work ethic and high integrity.
  • High energy, flexibility, and enthusiasm for working in an academic environment.
Additional Information

Position Type: Full‑time
Salary: $50,000 to $65,000 per year
