Location: Roxbury

The Electives Director is responsible for planning, coordinating, and overseeing the camp’s electives program for campers ages 7–15. This leadership role ensures electives run smoothly, staff are supported, and campers have a safe, engaging, and enriching experience outside of their majors. The Electives Director manages staff, inventory, resources, and program quality to ensure electives align with the camp’s overall mission and values.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee and supervise the Windridge electives program (elective areas include: archery, basketball, arts & crafts, lacrosse, mountain biking, field games, pickleball, swimming, volleyball, improv, rec games, hardcore, junior program, dance, outdoor adventure and golf).
  • Schedule, supervise, and support electives staff, ensuring effective program delivery and positive camper experiences.
  • Provide training, coaching, and feedback to electives staff.
  • Monitor program quality, safety, and camper engagement across electives.
  • Manage equipment, materials, and spaces, ensuring proper setup, organization, and maintenance.
  • Participate in electives activities as needed to ensure smooth operation.
  • Supervise all aspects of pool operation, including maintenance needs, supervising and scheduling guards and instructors and ensuring the safe operation of the pool.
  • Share in the supervision and evaluation of other camp operations and other camp staff, outside of program area, during non-program times, or if observed during program times.
Qualifications
  • Previous camp leadership experience strongly preferred.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to juggle multiple activities and schedules.
  • Experience supervising staff, troubleshooting, and providing constructive feedback.
  • Knowledge of youth development, with the ability to engage children ages 7–15 in creative, recreational, or skill-based activities.
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Training and experience in a minimum of three of the elective areas; prefer past college experience and current coaching experience.
  • CPR/First Aid certification (we can provide the opportunity to obtain before camp).
  • Past supervisory experience in a pool setting is preferred and a current lifeguard qualification.
  • Good character, integrity, and adaptability.
  • Enthusiasm, sense of humor, patience and self-control.

  • Lead by example with professionalism, enthusiasm, and flexibility.
  • Be highly visible and accessible during elective program times.
  • Maintain open communication with staff, campers, and camp leadership.
  • Ensure electives foster creativity, exploration, and fun while maintaining safety and structure.
  • Physically able to lift 50 pounds and able to participate in a variety of athletic areas.
  • Be adaptable to shifting schedules, camper needs, and weather-related changes.
Dates & Compensation
  • Full summer commitment required, including pre-camp training.
  • Position includes salary, room, and board.
