Champlain Valley Union High School (CVU) is seeking energetic individuals to join our special education team as Intensive Paraeducators starting the school year. We are looking for a skilled, caring individual to provide intensive support in the areas of multi-layered curriculum or curriculum overlapping, communication, behavior, and activities of daily living across school settings.
This position is vital to our mission of ensuring all students achieve expectations through specialized support and inclusive practices. The successful candidate will be a strong advocate of inclusive education, a problem-solver, a strong collaborator, and a positive team member who contributes to our school community.
Primary Responsibilities- Providing direct, intensive support for students in the areas of multi-layered curriculum or curriculum overlapping.
- Facilitating communication, behavioral support, and activities of daily living across various high school settings.
- Promoting child growth by fostering independence and self-advocacy.
- Collaborating closely with the special education team, classroom teachers, and related service providers to align support with student needs.
- Thriving within a teaming environment, working independently when needed while maintaining high levels of collaboration.
- Communicating effectively with colleagues regarding student progress and instructional goals.
- Supporting students during transitions, which may include the bus ride to and/or from school.
- A deep commitment to equitable instructional practices and serving as an advocate of inclusive education.
- Demonstrated strength in problem-solving and working as a collaborative, positive team member.
- Exceptional organizational skills and a flexible, creative approach to meeting diverse student needs.
- A strong willingness to learn and implement specialized support strategies for diverse learning profiles.
- The physical ability to meet the requirements of the position, which includes lifting.
- A positive and productive spirit that contributes to a safe, inclusive, and welcoming school environment.
