Middle & High School Music Teacher

Oxbow High School is seeking a versatile and creative Music Teacher for grades 7-12. The role includes instruction for band, chorus, guitar, 7th‑grade general music, and high‑school electives in a small rural school that values the arts.

• Teach instrumental and choral ensembles at the middle and high school levels
• Provide instruction in guitar and other electives
• Plan, rehearse, and conduct concerts and performances throughout the school year
• Develop engaging lesson plans aligned with state standards
• Assess student progress and provide meaningful feedback
• Foster a positive, inclusive classroom environment that encourages creativity and musical growth
• Collaborate with colleagues and participate in school and district events
• Maintain classroom, rehearsal spaces, and equipment/materials
• Prepare students for higher‑level experiences such as District and All State auditions, festivals, or college auditions
• Participate in District IV and VMEA meetings and music festivals

• Ability to teach both instrumental and choral music
• Basic guitar instruction capability
• Clear oral and written communication skills
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
• Strong classroom management
• Ability to work effectively with students across a wide range of abilities
• Enthusiasm for building strong student, parent, colleague, and community relationships
• Commitment to professional growth and collaboration
• Ability to teach middle and high school students effectively
• Familiarity with standard concert band, choral, jazz, and solo/ensemble repertoire and ability to select engaging material appropriate for students’ abilities
• Comfort working across multiple musical styles and ensembles, including jazz and Modern Band

Annual salary: $46,738 – $90,067 based on experience, level of education, and collective bargaining agreement.
