Job Description:
The Lecturer provides teaching, service, and program support within the undergraduate nursing program at Norwich University. This position involves delivery of high-quality instruction across classroom, clinical, laboratory, and online environments, as well as active participation in curriculum development, program evaluation, and student success initiatives. The Lecturer supports the School of Nursing mission through engagement in innovative teaching practices, student mentorship, and collaborative program development.
The Lecturer collaborates with the Director of the School of Nursing, course coordinators, clinical placement team, and instructional designers to deliver dynamic synchronous and asynchronous courses and clinically focused learning experiences aligned with national accreditation standards, competencies, and the Norwich University mission and values.
This is a full-time (1 FTE) faculty position with a 15-credit workload per semester (30 credits per academic year). Teaching assignments may include undergraduate didactic, laboratory, clinical, and online instruction.
This is a faculty‑ranked position.
Key Responsibilities:Teaching and Instruction
- Teach up to 12 credits per semester, ensuring quality instruction, curriculum rigor, and alignment with AACN Essentials and accreditation standards.
- Deliver instruction across classroom, clinical, simulation, and online environments.
- Utilize evidence‑based teaching strategies and instructional technologies to support student learning.
- Advise assigned undergraduate nursing students.
- Maintain regular office hours and provide academic guidance and support for progression and registration.
- Manage assigned courses, ensuring alignment with program outcomes, industry standards, and emerging trends in nursing practice.
- Collaborate with faculty to develop and refine course objectives, instructional materials, and evaluation strategies.
- Ensure integration of interprofessional education, simulation, and evidence-based practice into assigned courses.
- Participate in School of Nursing planning and evaluation processes.
- Contribute to ongoing curriculum review and program improvement initiatives.
- Support accreditation activities, including data collection, course evaluation, and program assessment.
- Participate in the evaluation of student learning outcomes and implementation of data‑driven improvements.
- Serve as a liaison between assigned courses, students, and nursing administration.
- Participate in faculty governance through committee service (e.g., Curriculum Committee, Program Evaluation Committee).
- Contribute to program decision‑making related to curriculum design and student success.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary partners and clinical agencies to support experiential learning.
- Supervise students in clinical and simulation environments.
- Maintain clinical expertise and ensure safe, effective student learning experiences.
- Collaborate with clinical partners to support student placement and learning opportunities.
- Participate in faculty development activities to enhance teaching, scholarship, and clinical practice.
- Engage in professional development, certification, and continuing education as appropriate.
- Communicate respectfully and professionally with faculty, students, and staff.
- Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
- Serve on University committees, councils, or work groups as assigned.
- Utilize institutional technologies and systems effectively.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by supervisor.
