Job Description
  • Design and deliver a comprehensive, developmentally appropriate school counseling program aligned with the ASCA National Model and Vermont Agency of Education expectations to promote and enhance student learning through academic, career, and social‑emotional development.
  • Implement classroom guidance and universal SEL instruction aligned with ASCA Mindsets & Behaviors, focusing on self‑understanding, self‑regulation, peer relationships, problem‑solving, career awareness, substance misuse prevention, and daily interactions.
  • Provide short‑term individual and small‑group counseling addressing self‑image, self‑esteem, regulation, adjustment, interpersonal skills, academic behaviors, and restorative conversations.
  • Use assessment‑ and data‑informed supports to help students identify skills, strengths, and build coping skills.
  • Collaborate with MTSS/EST teams to support Tier I‑III interventions and monitor progress.
  • Work with specialized populations, ensuring equitable access.
  • Develop students’ career awareness through lifelong processes.
  • Coordinate school, family, community, and business resources for academic and social‑emotional growth.
  • Consult and collaborate with teachers, administrators, school psychologists, social workers, and outside agencies regarding student welfare.
  • Communicate with parents/guardians via conferences, workshops, and newsletters.
  • Other duties as assigned by building principal.
  • Qualifications
    • Master’s Degree in School Counseling or equivalent.
    • Knowledge of Basic Program Components of Vermont Guidance Services K‑12.
    • Meets American School Counselor Association’s National Standards.
    • Valid Vermont Professional Educators License – Guidance Counselor endorsement.
    Job Requirements
    • At least 2 years of relevant experience preferred.
    • Bachelor’s degree preferred.
    • Citizenship, residency, or work visa required.
