RNESU is accepting applications for a Preschool Para educator to begin working immediately. Anticipated placement will be at Otter Creek Academy, working Tuesday, Thursday and Friday 6 hours a day for a total of 24 hours a week.
The Preschool Para educator is responsible for helping to provide a safe and developmentally appropriate preschool program in accordance with all relevant legislation, policies and procedures. The Preschool Para educator supports the implementation of a program to teach young children, ensuring their development and safety in accordance with relevant federal and municipal legislation and policies. They will be respectful of children and parents and help keep equipment and facilities clean, safe and well maintained.
Preschool Paraeducators work with the youngest school children in classrooms. Their role includes assisting young children to explore, learn and play in a safe, rewarding and educational environment. The case manager and/or early childhood teacher is the first line of communication and must be kept abreast of the student(s) progress and any issues that arise. Working as a team member, the Preschool Para educator assists in teaching young children to grow socially, emotionally and academically.
Qualifications- Previous knowledge in child development and early education theories and practices, and safe and appropriate activities for children.
- Associate’s degree or equivalent preferred.
- Will accept High School Diploma if the applicant meets the standard of being Highly Qualified under Title 1 requirements and passes Para educator Assessment Modules through Master Teacher Evaluation within the first year of employment.
- Meet Pre K child care licensing requirements.
- Maintain up-to-date CPR and First Aid certification.
- At least 2 year(s) of relevant experience preferred.
- Associate degree preferred.
- Citizenship, residency or work visa required.
