As an Early Childhood Special Educator (EEE) in the Central Vermont Supervisory Union (CVSU), you will collaborate with teachers, parents/caregivers, administrators, and other professionals to design and implement individualized educational programs for students in the CVSU community (birth to age five) with behavior and/or learning barriers. You will focus on foundational learning skills, social skills, literacy, math, and behavior support services to help students meet Vermont’s learning expectations in the least restrictive environment.
Responsibilities- Support student transitions into the PK program through Children’s Early Intervention services (birth‑3) and develop transition guidelines.
- Assist in preparing standards‑based IEPs for students who qualify for services, and provide consultation to ensure successful implementation.
- Coordinate and implement community‑based screenings and comprehensive assessments, including language, behavior, visual motor, gross and fine motor, and cognitive skills using standardized tests, rubrics, checklists, and developmental scales.
- Interpret educational and clinical findings to determine program eligibility, assess student progress, and refine instructional interventions.
- Act as a liaison with parents, counselors, teachers, and other professionals to determine assessment tools and share evaluation results.
- Collaborate with other Special Educators and district‑wide specialists to research, communicate, and apply evidence‑based practices in reading, math, behavior management, and classroom instruction.
- Create and maintain a respectful learning environment, integrate students into regular classrooms using inclusion principles, and coordinate services with para educators.
- Develop, implement, and monitor behavior management and crisis prevention plans, including assistive technology and adaptive systems for communication.
- Provide direct academic instruction, social‑skills training, and other services, employing instructional groupings and evidence‑based classroom activities.
- Collate and evaluate student progress data, adjust instructional strategies, and provide timely feedback to parents and stakeholders.
- Assist the school principal and the Director of Special Services in program evaluation, professional development for staff, and maintenance of accurate, confidential student records as required by law.
- Education and Experience: Bachelor’s degree and working knowledge of Vermont’s Framework of Standards. Master’s degree or equivalent in Special Education and 3–4 years of relevant experience preferred. Recent experience in a Vermont school district highly desirable.
- Professional Knowledge: Demonstrated knowledge of human development, special‑needs education, literacy and math instruction, assessment, and case management as outlined in current national professional standards.

Certifications:
Valid Vermont Professional Educator’s License with a 0‑80 Endorsement (Level II preferred) and a valid Vermont State driver’s license. - Skills: Strong written and verbal communication, data interpretation, problem solving, computer proficiency (Microsoft Office, Google Suite, student information systems), and knowledge of special‑education regulations. Ability to work effectively with diverse learners, including students of color, English Language Learners, and LGBTQI students.
- Physical Demand: Ability to perform required physical tasks such as standing, walking, and lifting students as necessary.
