Job Description

Green Mountain Union High School is seeking an enthusiastic and innovative Industrial Arts Teacher to provide engaging, hands‑on instruction for middle and high school students in the 2026‑2027 school year. This full‑time position offers the opportunity to inspire students through project‑based learning while developing technical, creative, and problem‑solving skills needed for college, careers, and the skilled trades.

The successful candidate will create a dynamic learning environment that introduces students to woodworking, metalworking, engineering, manufacturing, construction technology, drafting, and other industrial arts disciplines while emphasizing workplace safety, collaboration, and career readiness.

Responsibilities
  • Plan and deliver engaging instruction aligned with state standards and district curriculum.
  • Teach Industrial Arts and Technology Education courses to middle and high school students.
  • Provide instruction in the safe use and maintenance of hand tools, power tools, machinery, and equipment.
  • Foster a safe, organized, and positive classroom and workshop environment.
  • Design hands‑on projects that develop technical skills, creativity, critical thinking, and problem‑solving abilities.
  • Integrate STEM concepts, engineering principles, technology, and career exploration into instruction.
  • Assess student learning and provide meaningful feedback to support growth.
  • Maintain shop safety procedures and ensure compliance with all safety regulations.
  • Manage classroom tools, equipment, inventory, and instructional materials.
  • Collaborate with colleagues, administrators, families, and community partners to support student success.
  • Participate in professional development, faculty meetings, and school activities.
  • Support Career and Technical Education opportunities, student organizations, or extracurricular programs as appropriate.
  • Maintain accurate student records, attendance, and grades.
Qualifications
  • Required:
  • • Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Arts Education, Technology Education, Career and Technical Education, or related field.
  • • Valid Vermont teaching license (or eligibility for licensure) with appropriate endorsement.
  • • Knowledge of workshop safety procedures and industry‑standard practices.
  • • Strong classroom management, communication, and organizational skills.
  • • Ability to build positive relationships with students of diverse backgrounds and learning needs.
  • Preferred:
  • • Experience teaching middle and/or high school students.
  • • Experience with woodworking, metalworking, CAD drafting, engineering design, manufacturing, construction technology, or related fields.
  • • Industry certifications or professional trade experience.
  • • Experience incorporating STEM and project‑based learning into instruction.
