The Orleans Southwest Supervisory Union (OSSU) is seeking compassionate, student‑centered Early Childhood Instructional Assistants. The successful candidates will assist individual students and/or small groups of students with academic, social‑emotional, and/or vocational/job‑related tasks per the Individualized Education Plan, Section 504 plan, and/or the classroom teacher’s direction. The anticipated building assignment for our current opening is at Lakeview Early Education Center in Greensboro.
Assignments are subject to change on both building/school assignments and assignments to an individual or group of students.
Instructional Assistants become familiar with the academic approach and requirements of the teacher and the program, and all instructional, non‑instructional, and adaptive materials and equipment utilized in the program. Instructional Assistants support students in non‑classroom settings, both on and off campus, as needed. Early Childhood (Preschool) Instructional Assistants are required to complete additional paid training.
Essential Functions- Engage in play‑based learning in the classroom.
- Spend 60 minutes a day learning outdoors.
- Become familiar with the academic approach and requirements of the teacher and the program, and all instructional, non‑instructional, and adaptive materials and equipment utilized in the program.
- Ride the bus from Woodbury Elementary and/or Hardwick Elementary.
- Provide additional support and other duties as assigned.
Position Type:
Full‑time
Salary: $21 to $27 Per Hour
Job Requirements- Must meet criteria for support staff per ESSA. A Bachelor’s Degree, an Associate’s Degree, or the equivalent of 38 college credits. Successful completion and passing of a Title I compliant Highly Qualified Test may be substituted for the 38 college credits. Must have the ability to pass a full background check. Instructional Assistants under the age of 21 will only be assigned to work in grades PreK‑6.
Applicants hired to work at the PreK level are subject to additional paid training and background checks. Reliable transportation is required. - At least 1 year(s) of relevant experience preferred.
