Position: Elementary Guidance Counselor (1.0 FTE)

The counselor collaborates with teachers, administrators, families, and community resources to help students build positive self‑esteem, develop interpersonal skills, and navigate academic and behavioral challenges. The role involves both direct support (individual and group counseling) and indirect services (consultation, referrals, and school‑wide initiatives).
- Provide short‑term individual and small‑group counseling for students experiencing academic, social, behavioral, or emotional difficulties.
- Develop and deliver classroom guidance lessons focused on social‑emotional learning, conflict resolution, bullying prevention, and career awareness.
- Collaborate with teachers, administrators, families, and community partners to create and implement support plans.
- Use restorative and trauma‑responsive practices to mediate conflict and model calm in all situations.
- Develop, implement, and evaluate a comprehensive school counseling program in alignment with the ASCA National Model.
- Maintain accurate and confidential student records, upholding ethical standards and legal responsibilities.
- Master’s degree in School Counseling or a related field (preferred).
- Valid state certification/licensure (or eligibility for) as a school counselor, as required by the state.
- Prior experience working with elementary‑aged children in an educational setting (preferred).
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
- Knowledge of child development, social‑emotional learning, and behavioral interventions.
