Pre-K Educational Assistant
Marion Cross School is seeking a nurturing, enthusiastic, and dedicated Pre-K Educational Assistant to join our team. In this role, you will partner directly with our licensed Pre-K teachers to cultivate a high-quality, supportive environment where every child develops a lifelong love of learning. Nestled in the heart of the vibrant Norwich community, our public Pre-K program is a place where young learners explore, observe, wonder, and problem-solve.
From daily classroom discoveries to our beloved outdoor learning traditions, we guide children to realize their fullest intellectual, physical, emotional, creative, and social potential. Position begins August 24, 2026, open until filled.
This position is governed by the Norwich Education Association Union Agreement.
This is a school year position with a salary range of $20.35 to $26.05 depending on education and experience.
Support teaching staff in achieving learning objectives by working with individual students or small groups to help them achieve appropriate levels of instruction.

The duties of this position may include some or all of the following:
- Work with students within the classroom environment or other environments within the school setting to assist in completion of lessons and implement goals and objectives.
- Provide individual and/or small group instructional support as directed by professional staff.
- Assist substitutes with teacher's sub plans, class lists, attendance, and photocopying.
- Assist with clerical duties as assigned.
- Provide support in the department resource center.
- Monitor department equipment and supplies.
- Participate in scheduled meetings, as requested.
- Assist teacher(s) in maintaining appropriate classroom behavior or monitoring specific behavior management plans.
- Accompany students on field trips or to job sites.
- Assist with the supervision of students during emergency drills, assemblies, and break periods.
- Guide independent study, enrichment work, and remedial work set up and assigned by the teacher.
- Participate in in-service programs, as assigned.
- Assist the teacher in devising strategies for reinforcing material or skills based on an understanding of individual students, their needs, interests, and abilities.
- Recognize that student progress and records are confidential and must be discussed only with appropriate school personnel.
- Recognize that all communication with parents and other third parties regarding students shall not be the responsibility of the assistant and shall be conducted only by the professional staff.
- Perform other duties and accepts responsibilities as assigned.
- Must comply with all SAU 70 District policies and building / department rules, procedures, practices and objectives.
Evaluation will be completed by the Building Administrator or designee. Evaluation will be based on professional performance and effectiveness in carrying out the responsibilities of the position as defined.

Education and Experience:
Associates Degree or equivalent
Knowledge of general concepts of child growth and development
Knowledge of specific subject area content as required in the job assignment
Ability to understand and carry out oral and written instruction
Ability to maintain cooperative working relationships with students and staff
NH Para-educator certification preferred.
