Job DescriptionCavendish Town Elementary School (CTES) is nestled in the heart of the Green Mountains of Southern Vermont and serves students in PreK through Grade 6 and their families in the Cavendish community. CTES is one of five schools within the Two Rivers Supervisory Union (TRSU), all united by a shared commitment to nurturing students who are adaptable, empathetic, responsible, collaborative, and strong communicators.

Job Duties
- Provide evidence‑based intensive interventions using a structured literacy approach to an assigned caseload of students on a daily basis.
- Document and communicate progress and intervention strategies used with students to classroom teachers, the teaching and learning director/coach, and the principal and/or their designees.
- Maintain data on reading and literacy levels for eligible students’ individual intervention plans.
- Provide information to ensure individualized, targeted, evidence‑based intensive reading instruction for students who meet federal guidelines.
- Collect data and maintain student records, providing documentation in a timely manner.
- Serve as an integral part of the school’s data teams and work collaboratively to build intervention groups.
- Provide reading instruction related to literacy support for identified students.
- Provide data, planning, implementation, and monitoring support for students’ literacy intervention plans.
- Participate in literacy professional development.
- Perform other related tasks as assigned.
- Provide high‑quality instruction to individual students and small groups using district‑approved resources.
- Implement instructional activities that contribute to a climate where students are actively engaged in meaningful learning experiences.
- Use data to inform instructional decisions continually.
- Prepare and submit instructional intervention plans.
- Provide a structured, positive classroom experience that encourages students to think critically throughout the learning process.
- Maintain effective and efficient record‑keeping procedures, including progress monitoring.
- Ensure that student growth is continuous and appropriate for age group, subject area, and program classification.
- Establish and maintain cooperative and respectful working relationships with students, parents and other school personnel.
- Satisfy professional obligations through efficient work habits.
- Model professional and ethical standards when dealing with students, parents, peers and leaders.
- Communicate effectively and regularly, both orally and in writing, with students and parents.
- Collaborate with peers to enhance the instructional environment.
- Experience coaching and collaborating with teachers.
- Familiarity and experience with the DIBELS 8 assessment.
- Familiarity and experience with Fundations, Just Words and Heggerty programs.
- Familiarity and experience with evidence‑based frameworks for reading instruction to support both language comprehension and word‑level reading skills.
- Familiarity and experience with diagnostic procedures for identifying reading and writing difficulties.
- Experience writing and teaching curriculum using backwards design and UDL.
- Experience collaborating and problem solving with teachers.
- Master’s Degree is preferred; a Bachelor’s Degree is required.
- Valid or eligible for Vermont Reading Specialist or K‑6 Classroom Teacher License.
- 5 years of teaching experience at the elementary level.
- Demonstrated lifelong learner with a collaborative spirit.
