Job DescriptionMarion Cross School is seeking a 1.0 FTE language teacher for the 2026-27 school year, focusing on French language instruction. This anticipated opening is for a dynamic and passionate educator who will continue our strong French curriculum and engage young learners.
What We’re Looking For- Creativity and expertise in developing and delivering language instruction to elementary students.
- Deep understanding of the social, emotional, and academic needs of students and ability to create engaging, differentiated lessons that meet all learners’ needs.
- Commitment to fostering a love of language and cultural exploration in a supportive, dynamic classroom.
- VT certification (required).
- Strong French program with a long tradition of quality instruction.
- Twice‑weekly language instruction, allowing frequent engagement with students.

- Plan and deliver French language lessons using varied instructional techniques.
- Write comprehensive lesson plans aligned with district curriculum goals.
- Use audio, visual, manipulative, and technological resources to support instruction.
- Assess student progress through formal and informal assessments and provide feedback to students, parents, and administration.
- Maintain accurate student records and documentation required by law and district policy.
- Participate in faculty meetings, curriculum construction, and professional development.
- Collaborate with specialists and implement accommodations for students with IEPs or 504 plans.
- Maintain maximum supervision of assigned students and uphold behavior standards.
- Support positive behavior management and maintain school culture.
- Bachelor’s Degree.
- VT state teaching certification, or statement of eligibility.
- Knowledge of child and adolescent development, assessment tools, and research‑based instructional interventions.
- Ability to collaborate with professionals, parents, and the community.
- Awareness of applicable state administrative rules and regulations.
- Applicable state certification (or statement of eligibility).
- Highly Qualified status or equivalent.
- Contracted 185 days.
- Exempt.
$54,484 to $108,515 per year, depending on education and experience.
