Behavior Interventionist Needed

Shelburne Community School (SCS) is seeking a full-time, energetic Behavior Interventionist to join its Behavioral Support Team starting in the  school year.

The Behavioral Support Team serves students with social-emotional and behavioral needs. SCS is looking to add a member to its cohort of highly skilled, caring individuals with specific knowledge and expertise in the area of social-emotional learning and behavior.

In this role, the Behavior Interventionist provides 1:1 behavioral support and programming for individual students and small groups of students with significant needs. The Behavior Interventionist will have access to high-quality professional learning opportunities and weekly program meetings throughout the school year.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Direct, adjust, or develop elements of student instructional and behavioral plans, as informed by the SEL Coordinator and administration.
  • Foster student independence to ensure full participation in all school activities.
  • Collect, maintain, and interpret data using platforms like Google and SWIS to track student progress and inform programming.
  • Integrate instructional, behavioral, and communication interventions directly into the classroom setting.
  • Ensure safety by assisting students physically as required by their plans; this includes restrictive behavior interventions, CPI de-escalation techniques, and physical holds in accordance with established CVSD protocols and AOE Rule 4500.
  • Collaborate with professional staff, participate in student team meetings, and communicate with staff and students about the outcomes of referrals.
  • Provide comprehensive support, which may include promoting a positive school climate, supporting students in crisis who display unsafe behaviors, managing communications (receiving and responding to requests for support), supervising lunch, recess, and bus arrival/dismissal periods, and supporting students on the bus to and from school.

The Ideal Candidate Will Possess

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a proven ability to build deep rapport, strong relationships, and trust with students and school teams.
  • Foundational knowledge and understanding of Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS), Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), and restorative/trauma-informed approaches to support students and identify barriers to their learning.
  • A Bachelor's degree in education or another appropriate discipline (preferred).

Please apply via School Spring with a letter of interest, resume, and three current letters of reference.

This position offers a competitive salary and benefits package based upon qualifications, education, and experience. More information about CVSD can be found on our district website.
