Job DescriptionThe Orleans Southwest Supervisory Union and its member school districts are seeking experienced, reliable substitute teachers and instructional assistants to join our team of educators. In this position, you will work in the absence of our regular staff, aiding students in their daily tasks and helping ensure understanding of the subject matter being covered. Substitutes are professionals who play a vital role in the ongoing education of students.
Responsibilities- Use materials provided to attain lesson goals
- Direct the classroom, accomplishing curriculum objectives and goals outlined in the lesson plans
- Take attendance according to school procedures, keep the classroom orderly, and maintain normal classroom rhythms
- Comply with all procedures, guidelines, and policies of the school at all times
- Maintain a professional attitude in all conduct with students, faculty, and parents, including a commitment to confidentiality
- High school diploma required; college degree preferred
- College students are strongly encouraged to apply
- A certificate in teaching is a plus
- Detail-oriented and able to follow written and/or oral instructions
- Able to communicate effectively with other personnel and faculty
- Able to cultivate relationships with pupils in a brief period
- Confidence and capability in instructing in the absence of the regular teacher
- Willing and able to work standing for most of the day with few breaks to sit
- Willing and able to work outdoors for recess, outdoor education, and field trips
Position Type: Part-time
Salary: $150 to $150 Per Day

Job Requirements- Any offers of employment are contingent upon clearance of background fingerprint checks and Adult Protective Services & Child Abuse Registry Unit record checks. Employees must be at least 21 years old to work with students in grades 7 and up. Reliable transportation and communication (phone or email) are needed to report to work on time to the correct location.
