St. Johnsbury School District has an opening for Full-Time Substitute. The St. Johnsbury School District (STJSD) serves more than 1,000 students, Pre-K through 8th grade and tuition our high school students to several area public and independent high schools. St. Johnsbury School District has approximately 550 students in Prek to Grade 8 and approximately 200 full‑time employees all in one school.

We have an excellent outdoor educational space, new playgrounds and a dedicated team with an emphasis on employee wellness. We are located 4 minutes from I-91 at Exit 21.

Being a full‑time substitute means that each day you arrive at work you may be assigned to be either a para educator or a teacher and in any of the preschool through grade 8 classrooms. The role offers diverse possibilities. The individual must be willing to work across grades and in either position. It could be a classroom teacher aide (para educator) or a one‑on‑one with a particular student support or the classroom teacher.

The full‑time substitute must be flexible and comfortable working in an array of locations, situations and multi‑level floor school building including outside for recess. The school is not air conditioned. You must enjoy working with children of all ages.

Requirements:
Must be able to pass an Agency of Human Service and criminal fingerprint background check to work in the school. A Bachelor's Degree is preferred.

Full‑time substitutes work 175 school days, 4 professional development days and receive 8 paid holidays. They receive 12 sick days, 2 emergency days, 3 personal days, 5 bereavement days. BCBS of Vermont is the health insurance. The employer pays the first $2200 for single coverage or $4400 for multi‑person plan of the out of pocket costs plus 100% of prescription costs.
