Job Description Westshire Elementary School in West Fairlee, VT seeks a caring and knowledgeable special education para educator to work with disabled students in grades K-5. Special education para educators provide individual, and/or small group support in basic academic skills such as reading, writing, and math, as well as support in social, emotional, and behavioral skill development. The special education para educator must have the ability to provide patient, compassionate, and reliable support for learners who have challenges ability to collaborate and effectively communicate with administration and teachers is imperative.The special education para educator must have a high level of patience, empathy, and positivity for working with students with any type of disability. Paraeducators must work collaboratively with staff and administration, on behalf of students. The special education para educator must work effectively as a team, and demonstrate strong oral and written communication skills. Organizational skills are essential.
Associate degree or high school diploma with a passing score on the Para Pro Assessment required.

Westshire Elementary School is a preK-5 grade public elementary school in the Rivendell District.
Rivendell Interstate School District was the first K-12 interstate school district in the United States. It is now a preK-12 school district and serves three Vermont towns (Fairlee, West Fairlee and Vershire) and one New Hampshire town (Orford).Rivendell is located in the picturesque four-season Upper Valley near Dartmouth College and Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center. The District also includes beautiful Lake Morey and Lake Fairlee and has a 37-mile hiking trail that connects the four towns.
There are a number of higher education institutions close to our towns, including:
Dartmouth College, Plymouth State University, Community College of Vermont, Norwich University, Vermont College of Fine Arts, and Goddard College.
Teachers can opt into either the Vermont or New Hampshire teacher retirement program.
- High school diploma is required (at minimum) with a passing score on the Para Pro Assessment, or an Associates degree is preferred.
