Job Description

The Kingdom East School District, Student Services, is seeking two full time Instructional Assistants (IA) assigned to work at the Burke Town School in classrooms ranging from early elementary to middle school (ages 5-14). These positions become available in the  school year. The candidates must be energetic and love working with children and being part of a school community. The IA candidates will have experience and/or the desire to provide care and support to children for growth and learning academic, social, emotional and behavioral skills.

Ideal candidates will have experience serving children with special learning needs and/or who need support acquiring independent educational skills. The candidates will work closely with classroom teachers and/or special education case managers and are under the direction of the school administrator and the Director of Student Services. The individuals in this position support specialized instruction and other supports for students as assigned.

Candidates must successfully complete the Para Pro assessment or higher degree. Background check, including fingerprinting required upon employment. Background check, including fingerprinting required upon employment. The pay range for this position is $18.50-$25.34/hr.

The Burke Town School is part of the Kingdom East School District, located in the heart of a vibrant community in the Northeast Kingdom of Vermont. We operate seven preK-8th grade schools ranging from 60 to 500 students. Our high school students have “choice” and may opt to attend one of the traditional independent schools -- Lyndon Institute or St. Johnsbury Academy -- or another high school of their choosing.
We are located about 3 hours from Montreal, Boston and Portland, ME. Our region is known for breathtaking views and access to great skiing, hiking, mountain biking, fishing, canoeing and other outdoor opportunities.
