Job DescriptionHazen Union School District is seeking a Floating Support Staff member to act as a full-time substitute for school employees when they are absent.
A floating support staff member will primarily substitute teach, perform support, and/or clerical duties as assigned. A floating support staff member will work in the absence of our regular school employees, supervising and aiding students daily. This position falls under the Support Staff Master Agreement. Hourly earnings are determined in Appendix B of the current Support Staff Master Agreement, available on the OSSU website.
Essential Functions:
- Use materials provided to attain lesson goals
- Direct the classroom, accomplishing curriculum objectives and goals outlined in the lesson plans
- Take attendance according to the procedures of the school, keep the classroom and work orderly, and maintain normal classroom rhythms
- Comply with all procedures, guidelines, and policies of the school at all times
- Maintain a professional attitude in all manner of conduct with students, faculty, and parents, including a commitment to confidentiality
Hazen Union School is a union high school that serves the towns of Hardwick, Greensboro, and Woodbury. Hardwick and the surrounding towns are in the midst of an organic food and craft products renaissance, utilizing the rich agricultural resources our region has an abundance of. Job Requirements- The successful candidate will also need:
The skills needed to support a structured environment and encourage self-directed learning.
A certificate in teaching is a plus, but not required.
High school diploma required; college degree preferred.
The age requirement is 21 years or older to work with students in grades 7-12.
Applicants without at least 38 college credits will be required to obtain Highly Qualified status, testing materials, and time provided.
Detail-oriented and able to follow written and/or oral instructions.
Able to communicate effectively with other personnel and faculty.
Able to cultivate relationships with pupils in a brief period.
Confidence and capability in instructing in the absence of the regular teacher.
Willing and able to work standing for most of the day, with few breaks to sit with outdoor assignments as needed.
Excellent computer skills and familiarity with Google platforms and data entry.
The ability to pass a full background check.
