Summary Of Role This Equipment Engineering position is a 5/2 schedule supporting Cleans equipment on site at Fab 9 in Essex, VT in a cleanroom environment. Occasional nights and weekend support may be required, as needed. The Fab 9 Cleans module is seeking a motivated Principal Equipment Engineer to become part of our 200mm Fabricator team in Essex Junction, VT. The candidate will be responsible for ownership of Cleans manufacturing equipment, supporting maintenance and driving tool availability and cost improvements.
Individual hired needs to be comfortable wearing any/all required personal protective equipment and working with wet chemicals. This role will be fully onsite.
- Own and maintain Cleans equipment:
Expectation to spend majority of time on the cleanroom floor troubleshooting equipment downs and assisting maintenance with more challenging recoveries - Mentor other equipment engineers
- Be a technical leader in the area:
Be open-minded and innovative - Maintain a consistent, positive attitude
- Help expand maintenance team skills and document procedures
- Drive tool installs / relocations as needed
- Assist with tool sourcing / fleet upgrades as needed
- Lead structured problem solving to identify root cause equipment failures and drive tool availability improvements
- Provide Tool Status and coordinate planned maintenance as needed for capacity
- Interface with other fab modules and other groups as needed
- Work with the third-party vendors / suppliers to enable continued tool support
- Work with part planners to maintain and add spare parts for tools as needed
- Maintain inventory for critical parts to ensure sufficient quantities on hand
- Setup repair paths as needed to ensure continued part support and reduce support costs
- Create requisitions for parts and service
- Lead and support cost savings activities
- Perform all activities in a safe and responsible manner and support all Environmental, Health, Safety & Security requirements, and programs
- Oher duties as assigned by manager / supervisor
- Education - Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, or related engineering discipline
- Experience - BS + 4-5 years of experience or MS + 2-4 years relevant experience or PhD + 1-2 years relevant experience
- Fluent in English language - both written and verbal
- Up to 10% travel may be required
- Physical Requirements - Ability to wear any / all personal protective equipment as required upon entry into the Fab, including cleanroom suit, standing long periods of time
- Prior experience working in a semiconductor cleanroom environment
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Strong planning & organizational skills
- Knowledge of semiconductor/silicon processing
- Hands-on experience working with electrical and mechanical components
- Ability to read electrical schematics
- Ability to effectively lead tool troubleshooting
- Ability to work effectively and efficiently with diverse teams, customers, internal and external partner
- Project management skills - i.e., the ability to innovate and execute on solutions that matter; the ability to navigate ambiguity
