We are seeking a Senior Tax Associate to join a growing tax team in Woodstock, Vermont. This full‑time position is ideal for an experienced tax professional who excels at delivering accurate, timely, and strategic tax services. The Senior Tax Associate will oversee client engagements, review work prepared by support staff, and provide tax planning guidance that maximizes client outcomes. This role allows collaboration with clients and internal teams, mentoring junior staff, and contributing to a high‑performing accounting environment in Woodstock.
Key Responsibilities- Lead preparation and detailed review of federal, state, and local tax returns for individuals, partnerships, corporations, trusts, and estates.
- Conduct thorough tax research and provide guidance on compliance and planning strategies.
- Advise clients on tax planning opportunities to minimize liabilities and optimize financial outcomes.
- Collaborate with clients and internal teams to resolve tax issues, gather documentation, and ensure timely service delivery.
- Mentor and review work of junior team members, ensuring accuracy and efficiency.
- Stay current on changes to federal, state, and local tax regulations and communicate impacts to clients.
- Support IRS/state correspondence, audits, and other special projects as needed.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Taxation, or related field.
- 3+ years of experience in public accounting or tax compliance roles.
- Strong knowledge of U.S. federal, state, and local tax laws.
- Proficiency with tax software (e.g., Ultra Tax, Pro System) and Microsoft Office.
- Excellent analytical, research, and problem‑solving skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills for client interaction and team collaboration.
- CPA certification or actively pursuing CPA licensure is highly preferred.
