Accounting Manager

This position manages the monthly closing cycle and prepares the resulting financial statements. It oversees A/R and credit functions and directly supervises A/P, payroll, and financial analysis functions of Harbour Industries. The role also serves as backup for other departmental positions as needed and acts as a liaison with administrative departments at the sister and parent companies for information exchange.

• Maintain and manage month‑end general ledger activity, including journal entries, account analysis, and account reconciliation.
• Meet financial and tax reporting requirements to parent companies, including consolidation of company financials, issuance of month‑end reports, and financial analysis.
• Supervise the A/P, payroll, and financial analysis positions of the Accounting Department, including performance management of employees in these roles.
• Manage A/R and credit functions: review and evaluate the creditworthiness of new and existing customers, maintain credit files, manage cash application, collect on past‑due accounts, hold/release shipments to maintain compliance with credit and collection objectives, manage claims (including freight and miscellaneous credits/debits), and issue international invoices.
• Process the Marmon Employees’ Retirement Plan (MERP): weekly updates submitted by employees, bi‑weekly reconciliations with external administrator, and yearly reports for matching and discretionary contributions.
• Provide backup for Accounting and IT functions as needed; maintain presence on the IT committee for the business; perform other duties as assigned.
• Ensure compliance with Sarbanes‑Oxley (SOX) requirements and all Marmon and Harbour policies, procedures, and SPIs.

• BS Degree in Accounting or Business with 5 years of experience in accounting and/or financial analysis, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
• Strong PC skills, including Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Datawatch Monarch, Qlik View; hands‑on experience with ERP systems; working knowledge of financial reporting and analysis methods.
• Capability to supervise deliverables of the position as well as those of subordinates; actively trains and develops subordinates.
