Role Description

This is a full‑time remote role for a Senior Mortgage Underwriter. The Senior Mortgage Underwriter will evaluate, review, and approve mortgage loan applications in alignment with company guidelines and regulatory standards. Responsibilities include analyzing applicant documents, assessing creditworthiness, ensuring compliance, and providing decisions in a timely manner. The role may also involve collaborating with other stakeholders to ensure efficient and accurate loan processing.

Note - this is a fast‑paced, intense environment. The ideal candidate is eager, ambitious and client‑centric, and understands mortgage timelines (eg financing condition, payout expiry dates, etc).

Qualifications
  • Strong experience in the Canadian Mortgage Industry, including knowledge of Mortgages and Mortgage Underwriting (A, B, Private)
  • Extensive understanding of complicated files (stated income, multiple rentals, NIAT/retained earnings, etc)
  • Expertise in Underwriting practices and standards
  • Exceptional Analytical Skills to assess financial information and make sound decisions (eg mortgage penalties)
  • Knowledge of relevant regulatory compliance and lending policies
  • Effective communication and organizational skills
  • Proficiency in mortgage document review and analysis
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., FSRA) are advantageous
