Sonographer
The Cardiac Sonographer performs echocardiography exams, including sub-specialty exams such as stress echocardiography and transesophageal echocardiography. Utilizes two-dimensional and color spectral Doppler and M-mode imaging techniques to image patients as requested by the ordering physician. Works independently, consulting with the ordering or interpreting physician as needed, especially when unusual or unexpected findings are encountered. Must have the ability to synthesize varying amounts of data related to the patient's medical history.
Responsible for the patient's welfare for the entire duration in the outpatient facility or length of time the inpatient is in the testing area. Must be proficient in or willing to cross train for vascular examinations. Ability to function independently and proficiently is essential. Must be able to move and lift patients, equipment, and supplies on a regular basis. Must be able to operate HIS and CIS computers.
Familiarity with clinical emergency equipment such as oxygen tanks and suction apparatus is required.
