Clinician Substance Use Treatment Clinician I

This position provides clinical services to clients in the substance use treatment program. The Clinician I functions as an unlicensed clinical provider who works under direct supervision collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team and provides diagnostic assessment and treatment to clients. Responsibilities include assessment/intake, treatment planning, individual and group therapy, case management and related documentation.

The clinician will assist individuals, families and groups giving direct care and establishing goals to ensure successful transition. This position provides the opportunity to collaborate with outside entities to determine individualized care for each client. The clinician will enhance their own abilities participating in trainings and those of others as the trainer teaching basic skills to individuals and groups.

Summary of Duties
  • Under direct supervision, oversee basic direct care skill development services in community settings by care workers or BI’s. Provide basic case management services to coordinate client access.
  • Develop and implement treatment plans with direct supervision.
  • Write timely clinical documentation with advance clinical competency.
  • Ensure client accesses and attends medical, social, educational, vocational, housing, financial and other services.
  • Under direct supervision, manage basic problems and crisis situations that do not require multi-system responses.
  • Upon request, provide basic information and data to report on general program outcomes.
  • Follow all program policies and procedures.
Compensation and Benefits

  • The starting pay range for this position is $54,500 to $56,700 an hour.
Qualifications Summary of Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in human services, psychology, criminal justice or related field required. Master's degree preferred.
  • Knowledge of – DSM 5 – counseling and substance abuse treatment, co-occurring disorders, DAP notes, local agencies/ providers, Professional Ethics and Standards and HIPAA Regulations and Standards, ASAM, 42

    CFR part 2.
  • Experience providing direct supports and therapeutic services clients with substance use disorders and mental health concerns.
  • Experience with trauma informed care systems and trauma informed language.
  • Experience developing clinical recommendations that take all client preferences into account.
Work Environment

This work is performed in an often face paced office setting. There are times when it is necessary to travel for meetings with outside entities and trainings.
