Performs administrative and supervisory work required in the planning, delivery, and evaluation of correctional services. May coordinate work, education, housing, and criminogenic needs reducing programs. Assists in supervisory functions within given facility under the supervision of the Living Unit Supervisor.

Curriculum development, staff development and training work at a professional level involving the development and implementation of both generic and specific need training packages and programs.

Specialized professional casework, counseling, unit program direction, or restorative services for the Department of Corrections providing services to incarcerated individuals in a correctional setting to include administrative and supervisory work. Duties include designing, administering, and monitoring services for a incarcerated individual's immediate and long-range needs. Duties also include addressing the needs of victims and the community through restorative case planning. Duties include providing training, professional development, and supervision to DOC casework staff.

Duties involve supervision and monitoring of an assigned caseload of incarcerated individuals.

Incumbents must form working relationships with incarcerated individuals, act as role models, and work with other DOC staff, and community service providers as appropriate. Liaison with other correctional divisions and human service agencies, both public and private, may be required. May be required to oversee correctional programs, units, activates, development of work, education, housing, restorative justice and criminogenic needs reducing programs as assigned.

Duties are performed under the supervision and technical guidance of a Living Unit Supervisor or Assistant Superintendent. Incumbents will be required to attend mandatory training and maintain certifications and training requirements as determined by the department.

Work is performed in accordance with correctional policies, directives, and procedures. All employees of the Agency of Human Services perform their respective functions adhering to four key practices: customer service, holistic service, strengths-based relationships and results orientation.

• Supports and directs staff, volunteers and contracted providers in the case management and case planning functions of incarcerated individuals in correctional settings.
• Participates in the development, scheduling and delivering of training to facility casework staff, both local and department wide.
• Solicits supervisor's cooperation in providing an atmosphere to facilitate operational changes and implementation of skills and behaviors developed by employee development exercises.
• Arranges space and equipment for specific events, prepares notices, and maintains records of completed training.
• Plans, supervises, provides case management services, support services, and coordinates activities and programs for incarcerated individuals in a correctional setting.
• Provides supervision and technical assistance to corrections services specialist in a facility, or as part of delivering on-the-job training to new corrections services specialist.
• Act as a field training officer (FTO) for new staff.
• Deliver trainings and develop training curriculum for case work staff.
• Assists in data analysis, quality assurance, and program effectiveness.
• May be responsible for the supervision of programs or units within the facility.
• Direct supervision and case management of incarcerated individuals assigned to them in an institutional setting.
• Will have contact and appointments that provide direct supervision and case management of incarcerated individuals assigned to them.
• Develops case plans designed to reduce recidivism and promote pro-social skills. As a member of a treatment team, formulates case plans to help individual and family functioning. Assist incarcerated individuals to develop appropriate reentry plans.
• Coordinates with treatment teams for effective implementation of case plans and arranges for periodic case plan reviews.
• Assess incarcerated individual's potential for improvement, stability, or continued deterioration.
